Caroline Loader

Caroline began her career in retail before moving into HR, primarily in the medical device industry.  In the latter part of her career, she enjoyed travelling and working internationally with business and HR teams in multiple countries.  Having moved frequently throughout her life, Caroline and her husband settled in Pitton in 2010, where she could take the opportunity to focus on her lifelong love of the countryside and wildlife.

In her own garden Caroline works to create a biodiverse habitat, with wildlife areas, native hedging, nectar rich plants and trees.  She has developed an interest in growing vegetables organically, her knowledge increasing by trial and error, and plentiful advice from experts leaning on the gate!  She has established a small orchard and is monitoring a variety of mostly heritage fruit trees planted on land not necessarily suited to fruit growing.  Caroline also enjoys walking and spotting wildlife.

Born and married into an army family, Suzie has led a peripatetic life until she moved to Salisbury, where she settled for 24 years before moving to Pitton in 2018.  Wherever she lived, Suzie established a garden.  Having done this so many times she decided to take an RHS Level 2 Horticulture to add depth to her knowledge for the development of her own garden in Pitton. Following this she took a voluntary course with the Womens Farm and Gardens Association (WFGA) under the Work and Retrain as a Gardener scheme (WRAGS).  Since then she has been employed working in private gardens.

One of Suzie’s lasting recollections of her school days is winning a prize for ‘best garden’ with which she bought a bird book, still on her bookself today.

Suzie is also an artist and the inspiration for her work has been ‘Passion, Protection and Preservation for the Environment’.  Over the years Suzie has been involved in many community projects, promoting the use of recycled and sustainable materials. This ethos she takes into her own artists practice.
