Lindsay Thompson – Secretary
Lindsay was born in Staffordshire and has lived in various beautiful locations including Poole Harbour and the Malvern Hills before moving to Pitton in 2005 with her husband and two children.
Lindsay started her career working in food manufacturing as a Production Manager for Ryvita but following her move to Pitton and having young children at the time made a move into Early Years Education.
Lindsay was Deputy Manager, SENCo and Forest School Lead at Pitton Pre-School for seven years before taking up a position with Wiltshire Council working as a Special Education Needs and Disability (SEND) Lead Worker within Education and Skills Directorate and now combines her skills and experience with her love of nature working for Wiltshire Wildlife Trust as an Education and Well- Being Officer.
Lindsay has supported Alabare for many years raising money through their ‘Big Sleep Outs’ events and more recently completing her first 10K Race for Life for Cancer UK. In 2023 Lindsay walked the length of Hadrian’s Wall to raise money for Dementia UK.
In her spare time Lindsay enjoys walking her dog in and around the many walks on offer in Pitton and the surrounding villages.

Lyn Fredericks – Treasurer
Lyn was born near Poole in Dorset where she lived until her early twenties before moving to Surrey, she has lived in Pitton since 1984.
She has held numerous roles in Pitton Community groups and has been treasurer to both Pitton Ladies and Pitton Social Club. She has also been on several other village committees and spent time as a Parish Councillor.
When Lyn’s family were young she worked as a childminder in the village. Most of her working life has been spent in administration roles in both the public and private sector.
Lyn has always been very interested in environmental issues and has been a long-time member of several environmental groups. She is a keen walker with a particular interest in spotting and photographing wildflowers. At home she enjoys reading and pottering in the garden.

Matthew Judd
Matthew was born in Pitton and brought up on the family farm. After school at BWS in Salisbury he attended St Luke’s Teacher Training College, Exeter. He went on to teach Middle School and Junior School children for 34 years. 23 of these were as Deputy Head at Downton Primary School.
In 2013 Matthew took early retirement so he could run the family farm in the village. He is now into his second Countryside Stewardship Scheme and the 60 acres of farmland have been enriched with three new hedges, three wildlife ponds, winter bird feed and wild flower meadows. Matthew has a flock of Wiltshire Horn sheep and the lambs are all sold locally. All his grassland is herb rich ley and Matthew uses no chemicals or artificial fertilizers.
When not working Matthew enjoys walking with his dogs and mountain biking, making the most of the local footpaths and byways.
Paul (Fred) Fredericks – Chair
Fred was born in Pitton and has lived in the village for most of his adult life. He was a senior public servant and held operational and policy roles at the Charity Commission and the Healthcare Commission. After leaving the public sector he ran a consultancy business providing practitioner support to charities, community groups and social enterprises.
He has an MSc in Voluntary Sector Management and is also an ILM accredited social enterprise advisor. His experience includes developing governance structures, business plans and funding models.
Fred has been a trustee of a number of charities, including the Royal College of General Practitioners, he is an Honorary Fellow of the RCGP.
Within the local community he is a Parish Councillor and in the past a School Governor and Chair of the Carnival Committee.
Now retired he enjoys walking. He also fundraises for the Trussell Trust and volunteers for the Ramblers charity.

Rosie Lane – Safeguarding Lead
Rosie is originally from Devon and has lived in London, South Yorkshire and Charlotte North Carolina. She settled in Pitton in Spring 2004 after experiencing the peace and beauty of the Wiltshire countryside.
Her first career was within IT and she worked for a variety of companies including PriceWaterhouse (now PWC) and BT global services.
While living in Pitton she trained to teach and has spent 16 years working within local secondary schools.
Rosie has been Brown Owl for Pitton and Farley Brownies and helped with Guides.
Rosie has been chair of the Friends of Pitton Primary school. She has been the Local Authority and Data governor for Pitton Primary School before they joined the Pickwick Academy.
Rosie is a volunteer reading coach with Wiltshire South ReadEasy.
She is now looking to kick start career number 3 by taking a sabbatical to complete an MSc in Sustainability and Adaption at the Centre for Alternative Technology in Wales.
